Joist Hanger

The best way to fix floor joists. They should be nailed through every hole with minimum 1" galvanized nails at 16" (400mm)centers apart.

They are very flexible so the biggest mistake made when fixing is not allowing enough space for the joist to sit down properly.

To prevent this, use a short cut off from one of your joists. Nail down one side then sit your cut off in it and nail the other side so the joist is nice and tight.

Joist hangers are available from all good hardware and DIY stores as well as online.
